Kårtorp Bed and Breakfast

English: Kårtorp B & B

Welcome to our farm Kårtorp, a B&B on the shore of  Lake Öljaren in the beautiful area of Julita, Sörmland. It is only 30 minutes from Katrineholm, which in turn is an hour away by train from Stockholm.

A small B&B run by a Swedish family, now living in the heart of the Swedish countryside, but with a past in the cosmopolitan New York. The father, a hardworking lawyer, the mother, a banker and a homemaker with a passion for interior design, two girls; age 21 and 18 and a boy age 15, a dog, three cats and one goat.

This is truly a piece of paradise on earth. Here you can just relax and enjoy the landscape and tranquility, far away from your normal busy life.  But if you want, there are plenty of activities in our area.

During winter you can enjoy cross-country skiing or skating on the lake or fishing on the lake.

During summertime you can enjoy our own private dock, go for a swim or go fishing. There are several beautiful paths and hiking trails in the forrest which you can enjoy by foot, bike or horse back riding. "Riding track Sörmland", which consists of almost 500 km of winding riding tracks, goes right through the beautiful Julita., www.ridleden.se.  Take a biking trip around the lake Öljaren and pass through old villages. Go mushroom  or berry picking in the woods.

Special events can be arranged upon request and for an extra fee, for example, private dinner or dinner with the host family in the main house. Kayak rental, bike rental.

We have newly, very nicely, renovated a cottage called Magasinet on our farm that is for rent on a weekly basis or by night. For more info about Magasinet, please check Hyra Magasinet.

From our farm you can visit the very interesting and beautiful  castle and museum, Julita Gård, situated on the same lake, Öljaren, a few kilometres away. For further information see www.nordiskamuseet.se and then press Julita Gård. Julita Wärdshus is an Inn,  run by Tommy Myllymäki, "Chef of the year 2007" in Sweden. It is situated next to Julita Gård, where you can enjoy a good lunch or dinner. For opening hours, menu and reservations: www.julitavardshus.se

If you go a few kilometres the other way, you will reach Fiskeboda. Fiskeboda consists of a mansion, a small harbour on Lake Hjälmaren, which is the 4th largest lake in Sweden, a camp site and a nice beach.

There are several antique/craft shops in the area and almost every week-end there is a local country auction in Julita.

In Vingåker, only 15 minutes away, there is a factory outlet, see www.vfo.se for further information.
